Young man named and charged with GBH after serious assault in Frome

A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a serious assault in Somerset. Jack Bracken has been charged after an investigation into an assault that took place on Friday, June 14.

The 20-year-old, from Frome, was charged on Sunday, December 22, with one count of causing grievous bodily harm without intent. The victim of the assault, a 27-year-old man was attacked in Trinity Street in June.

At the time, Avon and Somerset Police appealed for witnesses and a man was arrested on July 5. The victim of the attack has been updated about the latest developments, Avon and Somerset Police have said.

Bracken remains on police bail and is due to appear at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 4.

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: “A 20-year-old man has been charged following an investigation into a serious assault in Frome.

“Jack Bracken, who lives in Frome, was charged on Sunday 22 December with one count of causing grievous bodily harm without intent. The charge follows an incident in Trinity Street, Frome, in which a 27-year-old man suffered facial injuries on Friday 14 June.

“A public appeal for witnesses was subsequently and the victim has been updated of the latest developments. Bracken remains on bail and is due to appear at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 4 March.”
