People who don’t follow Elon Musk on Twitter still have to look at his Tweets, it has been claimed. The world’s richest man bought what was then referred to as Twitter in October 2022, and subsequently changed the name X after a very public gutting of the company.
Since then, few will have noticed the prominence of Musk’s own tweets, but now an expert has confirmed that even for those that don’t follow the Tesla and SpaceX mogul, those posts are still appearing front and centre.
Jessica Redman, founder of search company Didgeheads, said: “Another important thing to note is that if you use X, or Twitter, you will see Elon Musk’s tweets whether you follow him or not, so if you were using the app, you’ll notice that you’ll be getting served a lot Elon’s stuff. For me, I don’t follow Elon, but that’s the way the algorithm’s built, to try and expose you to that kind of rhetoric.”

Musk has been particularly outspoken since playing a large part in Donald Trump’s comfortable win in the US election last year, much of which has centered on the UK.
Among such forays in British politics, he launched a poll asking if “America should liberate the people of Britain from their tyrannical government,” before prompting people to answer with either ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

The move came after Musk entered into a spat with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and called on King Charles to call another general election.
Musk quote tweeted a post from an account that said: “We can’t have Keir heading the country, while he was the one heading the Crown Prosecution Service ( CPS) while all this was happening.”
In his quote of the post, likely referring to grooming scandals in Northern England that began to be uncovered in 2013, Musk simply wrote, “yes”.
