Footage has emerged of what could be arguably the bravest or daftest fisherman on the planet getting struck by lightning, twice.
In a video shared to Reddit, two fishermen can be seen waist deep in a river, in what can at best be described as a biblical storm. The pair brave the weather as they move in deeper, in the hope of landing their catch of the day. Then as one man picks up his rod, it gets struck by lightning and he immediately drops it, shaking his hand.
This story comes as a shark reportedly killed a dad-of-two who was spearfishing, while his family enjoyed a picnic on a nearby beach. It also follows the news of a huge 11ft shark found washed up on a UK beach sparking fury.

Back in the river, in what could be argued as being a case of all the gear and no idea, the man who had just been struck decides to pick the rod back up again.
And it turned out that lightning does in fact strike twice, as the fella was once again zapped from the skies.
It was at this point the lads finally admitted being in the water armed with lightning rods during a storm probably wasn’t the best place to be, as they proceeded to wade out.
However, while the pair might have made themselves safe from nature’s wrath, they were never going to be safe from the keyboards of Reddit users.
One viewer wrote: “These guys are literally so stupid that it hurts.”
Another said: “Literally just told my son the rules of swimming which includes to get out of the water when it’s stormy outside. I should show him this video.”
A third joked: “He’d make a better bus driver than a fisherman. He’s a brilliant conductor.”
And a fourth wondered: “Maybe he thought it would be good to follow a scientific approach and repeat the experiment to see if it returns the same result.”
However, to (slightly) defend the shocked man’s actions, one user pointed out that it was unlikely a direct hit on the rod, and more a case of being “the charge surrounding the area that passed through the rod (and the person)”.
