A woman’s body has sadly been found at a harbour in Cornwall. Residents reported a heavy emergency service presence in Charlestown, near St Austell, this morning (Saturday, January 11).
There were reports of ambulances and police cars in the vicinity. Devon and Cornwall Police has now confirmed that the body of a female was located in the harbour.
She was confirmed deceased at the scene and her next of kin has been informed. The police force is now asking the public to not share circulating footage that may cause further upset and distress to her loved ones and to report it if seen on social media.
In a post to Facebook, St Austell Police said: “Police were called this morning to reports of a female body being located at Charlestown harbour. Sadly, it was confirmed the female was deceased and the female’s next of kin have been informed.
“Police are aware of some footage circulating on social media that would cause further upset and distress to the female’s family and friends.
“The police ask that the public report the footage that has been shared to the relevant social media platform so that it can be removed. The police would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding.”
