Woman taken to hospital after car crashes into building in Leicestershire

A woman has been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a building in Leicestershire. Multiple emergency services were called to the scene in the wake of the incident, which happened at the junction of Northleigh Way and Meadowcourt Road, Earl Shilton, just before 12pm today (Tuesday, December 31).

Photos from the scene show several emergency vehicles in attendance, with crews holding tarpaulins as privacy screens. An eyewitness told LeicestershireLive that Astley Road and Meadowcourt Road were closed following the crash. Leicestershire Police declined to comment on whether any road closures were in place.

A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said crews from Hinckley Fire Station were called to the scene by East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) and police shortly before 11.55am. The casualty was taken to Glenfield Hospital by EMAS.

A police spokesman said: “One person, a woman, has been taken to hospital. No-one has been arrested. Officers remain at the scene.”
