A driver has been arrested after ‘intentionally’ running over a woman in a Leeds village.
The woman, 28, was rushed to hospital after she was hit by a black Vauxhall Corsa in The Village in Thorp Arch on Monday, December 30 at 7.25pm. A 20-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the offense, on suspicion of wounding with intent.
The 28-year-old suffered multiple injuries that were serious but not life threatening. The driver remains in custody.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At 7.25pm last night, police were contacted by the ambulance service reporting a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car in The Village, Thorp Arch, Wetherby.
“A further call was received reporting that the black Vauxhall Corsa involved had intentionally driven at the woman. The 28-year-old woman was taken to hospital for treatment to multiple injuries that were serious but not considered life threatening.
“As a result of enquiries, a 20-year-old woman was arrested a short time later on suspicion of wounding with intent in relation to the incident.
“She remains in custody and detectives from Leeds District CID are continuing to carry out enquiries into the incident.”
