Woman falls and is sucked into airport baggage carousel as staff watch on in horror

The woman was seen hopping onto the luggage conveyor belt at Vladikavkaz Airport in Russia, with one person claiming she thought it was the fast track entrance to her flight gate

Russia: Passenger attempts to fly ‘baggage class’ at airport check-in

A bizarre video has emerged of a woman climbing onto the luggage belt at a check-in desk before getting sucked in. The clip, shared widely on Russian social media, was filmed at Vladikavkaz Airport in Russia.

No details are known about the woman, however the weird incident occurred earlier this week. The clip shows her walking up to the luggage belt at a check in desk, while two airline staff are on the desk next to her checking in another passenger.

For some reason, she just jumps up onto the belt, slipping and falling right at the end where the luggage goes through the black gate and into the back of the airport.

Then, while lying down, clinging onto the walls for dear life, she disappears through the aforementioned hole as staff suddenly realise that there was a person on there.

A shocked passenger points hysterically at what happened, while the two seemingly-gormless check-in girls state blankly at the space where the woman was.

The clip was shared by Baza News on Telegram, who for some reason overdubbed it with Daft Punk’s Around the World song. No details were given about what happened after the woman went for a ride, so her status is unknown.

However, according to one source on social media: “The elderly woman mistakenly thought that the luggage conveyor belt was a pathway to board her plane. She didn’t see anything unusual about laying down on a conveyor and allowing it to take her into the plane.”

And on Reddit, some saw the funnier side of it as one posted: “Just an old lady identifying herself a suitcase.” And a second wrote: “Fare includes one checked babushka.”

And when asked about the rules for “carry-on babushkas,” a third said: “Yes – no wider than four bottles of vodka, as she needs either to fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. Alternatively, you can check your carry-on babushka at the gate, but as this is Russia, she may be stolen by the ground crew. Slip the flight attendant 1,000 rubles to look the other way.”
