Woman arrested after police find pepper spray, an axe and suspected drugs stash

Police uncovered an axe, a baseball bat and pepper spray alongside an array of suspected drugs.

Officers raided a home in Middlesbrough on Thursday and arrested a 25-year-old woman. They took the weapons and drugs – a suspected stash of cocaine, cannabis and cannabis edibles – away from the house on Holyrood Court in the Longlands area.

Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Team were working alongside housing agency Thirteen. Officers also seized an unspecified amount of cash. The woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug; possession with intent to supply a class B drug; possession of a class C drug and the possession of a firearm – the pepper spray. She was taken into custody.

Inspector Chris Hartshorne, from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Drugs activity blights the lives of our law-abiding residents and we are listening to our communities and proactively tackling the issue. We would always urge those who have information regarding suspected drug activity in their area to contact Cleveland Police on 101.

Thirteen’s director of operations Kay Glew said: “We remain committed to working with Cleveland Police and will ensure that tenancy action is always taken appropriately.”
