A pensioner has died following a collision in a Nottinghamshire village earlier this week. The 81-year-old pedestrian was involved in an accident with a car at the junction of London Road and Hawton Lane in Balderton.
The incident occurred at around 4.50pm on Monday, December 30. The woman was taken to hospital but died there a short time later, despite the best efforts of medical staff.
A large cordon was put in place following the collision, forcing the closure of both London Road and Hawton Lane on the evening of the accident. The woman’s family are being supported by officers.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and was spoken to by the police. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Detective Constable Emma Temple, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the woman’s family at an incredibly difficult time.” Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have recorded dashcam footage which could assist officers with their inquiries is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 485 of December 30.
