Who is Chris Taylor? Leicestershire’s ITV Love Island and Dancing on Ice star

Leicestershire’s reality TV favourite Chris Taylor is trying his hand at skating as a contestant on this year’s Dancing on Ice. The Love Island semi-finalist has had a varied career in TV, film and social media, with top credits including a cameo in Greta Gerwig’s hit film Barbie.

Known for his quirky style and sense-of-humour, Chris used his Love Island fame to kick off a career as an influencer. The Whetstone man is a big hit online too, with over one million followers seeing his posts which cover lifestyle and comedy sketch content.

You’re likely to see him alongside fellow Love Island contestants on his social media, namely Kaz Kamwi, Michael Griffiths and Toby Aromolaran. But what do you know about Chris? Let’s find out.

How old is Chris Taylor?

Chris was born on July 3 1990. The 34-year-old grew up in Whetstone and attended St Peter’s Primary School, followed by Thomas Estley in Broughton Astley, and latterly Countesthorpe College. He grew up alongside brother Steve, mum Jin and dad Bob.

While Leicestershire through and through, Chris now lives in London.

Why is Chris Taylor famous?

Chris rose to fame as a contestant on Love Island 2019. He had a number of romantic connections with fellow islander’s including Demi Jones, Molly Smith and Sophie Piper.

After exiting the show, he sparked a romance with previous islander and 2024 I’m a Celebrity star Maura Higgins. The two dated for six months before calling it quits in 2021, commenting that they were better off as friends.

After leaving the island, Chris featured on various reality shows such as Celeb’s Go Dating and Love Island All-Stars . He was invited to host 2024’s Love Island spin-off podcast, Morning After.

He also stepped onto TV screens in 2023’s Barbie after bumping into Margot Robbie in London.

Chris has spun onto the nation’s screens as a contestant in this year’s Dancing on Ice alongside pro partner Vanessa Bauer. She told HELLO!: “Chris has really kept me laughing on the ice. He’s so funny, which has really helped on training days.”

Chris was equally delighted with the pairing and is keen to impress on the ice, telling ITV: “I’m a little bit of a showman so I’m looking forward to being in an environment where I’m performing but having honed a skill whilst doing it.”

Chris is one of 11 stars competing in the 17th series of Dancing on Ice, with the show once again hosted by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern. It returned to screens last Sunday (January 12), with Chris and Vanessa performing to the Hall and Oates classic, You Make My Dreams. They scored 24 out of a possible 40.
