Pub brand JD Wetherspoon could bring its brand to a holiday park in North Wales. The chain already has a strong presence across the region with pubs in several towns and cities.
But this could increase under a proposal from holiday park giant Haven. Last year Haven announced it had signed an exclusive agreement with JD Wetherspoon to operate at its parks.
The agreement meant that Haven is the first and only UK holiday park operator to enter a commercial partnership with the pub company, which operates over 830 pubs in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The first pub opened at Haven Primrose Valley Holiday Park in North Yorkshire last March.
Now a proposal has been put forward for a site in North Wales. This is for the Presthaven holiday park in Prestatyn.
Under the plans an extension would be built on the main building’s Mash and Barrel bar area. Drawings in the plan show the area would become The Boathouse pub under the Wetherspoon’s chain.
The Boathouse Wetherspoon’s pub proposed for Haven Presthaven site
A planning statement from Harrison Ince said: “The proposed extension at Presthaven Beach Resort aims to enhance the overall guest experience while seamlessly integrating with the existing resort infrastructure. By prioritising high quality materials, sustainable design practices, and compliance with relevant regulations, the extension will provide modern amenities that cater to the diverse needs of our visitors.
“This development not only supports the resort’s growth but also reinforces our commitment to sustainability and accessibility, ensuring that Presthaven Beach Resort remains a premier destination for leisure and relaxation. We believe this extension will contribute significantly to the local economy and community, fostering an inviting atmosphere that attracts both new and returning guests.”
This will now be considered by planners at Flintshire council.
