Wetherspoon pub set to open at Cleethorpes holiday park this year

A Wetherspoon pub is set to open at a Cleethorpes holiday park ahead of the summer season.

Haven has unveiled plans to extend its partnership with the pub chain by opening four new on-site pubs at its sites around the country. This includes The Humber Stone at Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park, building on the success of an exclusive operating agreement that saw the first on-site Wetherspoon pub open at Primrose Valley, in East Yorkshire, last year.

In Spring 2025, the quartet of new J D Wetherspoon pubs will welcome customers at Haven’s holiday parks in Cleethorpes Beach, Kent Coast, Devon Cliffs, and Haggerston Castle.

The Humber Stone pub represents a £1.7 million investment from Haven, contributing to a total investment of £6.7 million in the expansion of the J D Wetherspoon partnership. This forms part of an £8.3 million investment aimed at enhancing the food and beverage offerings across all parks for 2025.

This comes on the back of a broader £100 million investment in Haven’s parks throughout 2024, encompassing new propositions, additional pitches, new fleet and more.

Over the past five years, 60 new venues have been launched across Haven’s own brands and franchise partners. The recent addition of J D Wetherspoon takes Haven’s total number of franchised partnerships to six, joining a lineup of well-known names such as Burger King, Papa Johns, Millie’s Cookies, Slim Chickens, and Chopstix.

Simon Palethorpe, chief executive of Haven, expressed his delight at expanding their partnership with J D Wetherspoon. He said: “The opening of The Humber Stone at Cleethorpes Beach reflects our ongoing efforts to grow and enhance our food and beverage partnerships and offerings, and we look forward to bringing this experience to even more locations across the UK for our guests and holiday homeowners to enjoy.”

John Hutson, chief executive of J D Wetherspoon, said: “Our pub at Primrose Valley has proven a great success and we are confident that the four new pubs will be welcomed by guests and owners.”

Since its opening in February 2024, The Five Stones at Primrose Valley has seen more than 168,000 draught pints poured, 25,000 bottles of beer and cider served, and nearly 200,000 soft drinks enjoyed by guests. In addition, 67,000 breakfasts have been dished up, and 314,000 main meals sold, excluding sides and extras.

Haven, which was acquired by Blackstone in 2021, has already invested over £410 million in its parks across 2021, 2022 and 2023.
