A 45-year-old man has appeared in court having been charged with stabbing a woman in the face. Dressed in a grey tracksuit and a black coat, David Anderson was not asked to enter any pleas to the charges he faces when he appeared from custody at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on New Year’s Eve.
The short hearing was told how the defendant allegedly used the knife on his victim at an address in Cotgrave on Sunday, December 29. Prosecutor Sanjay Jerath said the woman was cut on the face with a knife they allege Anderson used.
The defendant, who gave an address of Avondale, Cotgrave, to the court but is also of Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, was told the charges – wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, criminal damage, possession of a knife and threatening another person with an offensive weapon – are too serious to be heard at the lower court and so District Judge Sunil Khanna sent the matters to Nottingham Crown Court.
Sabeel Hussain, for Anderson, did not apply for bail on his client’s behalf and the accused will next appear from custody at Nottingham Crown Court on January 28 where he will be expected to formally enter his pleas.
