‘We tried the new McDonald’s menu and one item made us nostalgic’

If you’re a fan of McDonald’s then you may want to start planning your weekend treat. We tried the new menu launches and one item really made us want more and took us back in time to an old menu launch.

Oh, and don’t worry about January pay day – many of us are trying to stretch our budget over five weeks instead of four thanks to an early Christmas pay day, but if you want to treat yourself, this is a budget-friendly option.

We were given the opportunity to try some of the menu’s items. The new Chicken Katsu One wrap, the BBQ Ranch Stack as well as their Mozzarella Dippers. Launched on January 6, there’s a lot to be excited for, but these won’t last forever, so get your hands on them before they’re gone.

Is the McDonald’s Katsu wrap good?

The thing that impressed us the most is the Katsu wrap. Not only was it full of flavour, but it had a good amount of filling in it and it wasn’t greasy or oily. Inside you have your choice of crispy or grilled chicken, coated in katsu sauce, crispy onions, crunchy cucumber and fresh lettuce. When purchased on a Wednesday, it costs just £1.99.

If you’re craving katsu and don’t have the time or ingredients to make it, it’s the next best thing. In fact, back in 2021, McDonald’s launched Katsu Curry Chicken McNuggets, which people loved. So safe to say you’ll be happy if you were one of those people.

If you’re trying to be healthy, there is a grilled chicken option. Both the grilled and crispy chicken wraps are under 500 calories so you can enjoy a treat without the guilt this January.

McDonald’s burgers – our verdict

We tried the new BBQ Ranch Stack. This burger has two 100 per cent beef patties, Emmental cheese, lettuce, bacon, crispy onions, creamy ranch and sweet BBQ sauce. Placed between a glazed sesame seed bun, it’s one to add to your takeaway order. If you love the McDonald’s Steakhouse Stack and Philly Cheese Stack, we don’t see any reason why you won’t like this.

McDonald’s Mozzarella Dippers – yay or nay?

We tried the Mozzarella Dippers and due to it being delivered, as many of us experience when we get a takeaway rather than eating it fresh, it didn’t have that cheese string pull. But no doubt if we popped it in the air fryer it would have had that. The dippers were flavourful and came with a Salsa dip that packed a punch.

Available now until March 25, you can get it as a three-piece collection or nine-piece sharebox. We’d recommend the latter, they’re that more-ish.
