We asked AI what Nottingham will look like in 2050 and there could be some pretty huge changes on the way

Artificial intelligence is becoming a bigger part of our lives with each passing day. Most of us will carry some form of AI around with us in our pockets every day in the shape of a mobile phone – even if we don’t realise it.

Its accuracy and understanding of the world seem to improve all the time and we’re guessing it’s only a matter of time before we are served a pint or meal by a robot. We decided to try put X’s new AI model Grok to the test by asking it what Nottingham could like in 2050.

There were three main things that stood out. The city is in for skyscrapers – and a lot of them.

The city centre will still offer plenty of green space and the NET tram network will still be playing its part in getting us out and about around the city.

Oh, and don’t mind the robots just taking a stroll around what it thinks Old Market Square could look like in 25 years’ time. Grok AI said: “Predicting what Nottingham or any city will be like in 2050 involves a lot of speculation based on current trends, technological advancements, environmental policies, and socio-economic developments.”

It predicted: “The city might have a significantly improved public transportation network, possibly including autonomous vehicles, high-speed trams, and underground systems. Electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles could be the norm.”
