Wayne Rooney was hardly recognisable as he dressed up as the iconic Mrs Doubtfire for a theatre date with his wife, Coleen. The celebrity couple enjoyed some laughs during their quality time out following his departure from Plymouth Argyle.
As they ventured backstage at the theatre event, Wayne, the former Plymouth Argyle manager, had a go at trying on the costumes and looked every inch the part.
As reported by the Mirror, Coleen took to Instagram post-show to share pictures from their entertaining evening. She wrote: “Really enjoyed the show… lots of laughs throughout!”
She included an image of the pair in front of the theatre signage. She then shared a video on her Stories showing 39-year-old Wayne decked out in Mrs Doubtfire’s famous facial prosthetics and silver wig, writing: “And lots of laughs afterwards!! @waynerooney.”
With Wayne’s hilarious get-up in full view, you can hear Coleen giggling in the backdrop, while actors from the stage production were also spotted chuckling at the ex-footballer’s comedic disguise.
This light-hearted outing follows Wayne’s dismissal from his managerial position at Plymouth Argyle earlier this month. He’d been grappling with a spell of poor form at the Championship club.

After his departure, Argyle stunned football fans by beating top-tier team Brentford in the FA Cup. On the other hand, Coleen has reportedly been exploring new television opportunities following her stint on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
She has been linked to various TV projects and even a Netflix fly-on-the-wall reality series. She addressed the speculation as she teasingly told The Mirror last week: “You will be seeing a bit more of me.” In the final of the ITV show, Coleen won an impressive 44.8% of the public vote.
When it comes to other TV work, she said: “We have had meetings and got ongoing meetings with other things,” but says there’s nothing she can reveal just yet. Teasing future projects, she promised fans: “So you will be seeing a bit more of me.”

She also added: “I always stay true to myself. So it’s not going to be completely extreme or different.”
Coleen also revealed recently how the court battle with Rebekah Vardy ruined her weekends. Their Wagatha Christie court case at the English High Court quickly became one of the most infamous celebrity court cases of all time.
They went up against each other in the London court in Summer 2022, three years after Coleen outed Rebekah as the person responsible for a number of leaks about private stories from her Instagram account, signing off her post with “It’s…… Rebekah Vardy’s account”.
Speaking to the Stick to Football podcast earlier in the month, Coleen admitted: “I had no control over it and that was hard. I knew what I was saying was right, but the fact that someone else took me to court and I had to prove it and say it was what it was was tough. It was a long period of time and I couldn’t get away from it.”
