Viking FK sporting director Erik Nevland has addressed Lars-Jorgen Salvesen’s transfer to Derby County.
The centre-forward has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Pride Park to become the Rams’ first January transfer window signing.
Speaking about the deal, Nevland said: “Lars-Jørgen has been a brilliant ambassador for Viking and has delivered great performances since he joined the club. This was a very good deal for all parties, and we wish Lars-Jørgen all the best in England.”
Salvesen has opened up on the difficult decision to leave Viking FK after two seasons with the Norwegian club.
“It is a big deal for me to get this opportunity, it is a unique opportunity that I felt I could not refuse,” he said. “But I had a big lump in my stomach when I was supposed to say thank you during the dinner, and it is with a heavy heart that I am leaving.
“It was very special to say goodbye, this is the dressing room I have enjoyed the most throughout my career. I have made friends for life.
“I would like to say a big thank you to Viking. I have had an absolutely fantastic time and enjoyed myself incredibly well.
“It is with a heavy heart that we are moving from Stavanger, it has been difficult for both me and my partner who have enjoyed themselves incredibly well in the city, the locker room and the club. I am incredibly grateful for what we have experienced and will of course follow Viking in the future.”
