A vegan and dog-friendly café in a Cambridgeshire town has announced that it will be closing at the start of this year. Oscar’s in St Neots has said it will close its doors for the last time on Sunday, January 5.
The owners said that the “challenging economic climate” had made the “financial pressures” of running the café “unbearable”. The café first opened in March 2023 and has since become popular with St Neots locals.
The café sells a range of brunch items on its seasonal menu and homemade baked goods. Oscar’s also regularly held themed events such as a booze and brushes nights and a soul music night.
In a statement, the owners of Oscar’s said: “Dear valued customers, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Oscar’s café. Our last day will be Sunday, January 5, 2025.
“Due to the challenging economic climate and the impact of the new government budget in April, we are finding it increasingly difficult to manage our running costs. Despite our best efforts to adapt and sustain our business, these financial pressures have become unbearable.”
The owners went on to thank the customers that have supported the café since its opening. They added: “We want to express our deepest gratitude to all of our customers for your support over the past two years, we have had so many amazing days, events, and evenings at Oscar’s that we are so grateful for.
“Keep your eyes peeled on our little corner of the high street as something new will be taking over from us.”
