A call has been made for footage of a car park to be made available after a serious crime took place on the premises, as gardai investigate the crime.
A woman who parked her car in Tesco Ballinasloe car park was the unfortunate victim of theft just after midday on New Year’s Eve, when the contents of her handbag were robbed from her. The criminal then proceeded to throw the bag under the car.
The woman is now calling on members of the public who may have dash cam footage or seen anything suspicious, to share it with gardai.
The victim said: “Would anyone have dash-cam footage of Tesco Ballinasloe car park / or seen anything yesterday at 12.30, my car was parked on the right-hand side of the car park facing the field towards Hymany park field, someone robbed the contents of my handbag and threw the bag under the car , the Garda are currently looking through footage but any additional information would be appreciated.”
In a separate incident, garda units rushed to the scene of a serious assault in Galway City on New Year’s Eve.
A busy street in Galway city was the scene of a serious assault that took place outside a popular premises on Newcastle Road as revellers celebrated the new year.
Gardai have confirmed the major incident at a premises on Newcastle Road just after midnight on January 1 and have said that investigations into the incident into the assault are ongoing.
A garda spokesperson told Galway Beo: “Gardaí received a report of an assault at a premises on Newcastle Road, Galway, at approximately 12.30am on 1st January, 2025. Enquiries are ongoing.”
