Nostolgic video footage shows an Edinburgh street scene from 1975 complete with classic cars and timeless tenements.
The footage shows Bruntsfield Place as it approaches Holy Corner.
The nostalgic clip features a number 16 bus pulling into a stop. The bus and the cars on the road are all classic vehicles no longer seen on the road.
The videographer, Mike Barnes, took the video as a teenager when he was shooting short films around Edinburgh in the mid-1970s.
Mike spent most of his life in Morningside and Bruntsfield and lamented not taking more footage of his favourite areas in Edinburgh from decades past.
He told Edinburgh Live : “I wish that I’d filmed more of the physical environment! So much has changed. A few more shots taken of the streets, shops and even traffic would be incredibly evocative now.

“In another short film, which my father filmed in 1969-ish, a much-loved neighbourhood shop can be seen in the background, but there had been no intention of recording it for posterity – that was sheer luck.”
Mark said the footage evokes strong memories for him.
He added: “The particular area shown in the shot of the bus is especially resonant for me as a few years ago it’s exactly where I’d take my father (latterly, in his wheelchair) for expeditions out from his care home close nearby. He died in November 2022.
“I now live in York but visited Edinburgh frequently while helping to take care of my father. Prior to moving into the care home, he lived at home in Morningside.
“With so much of my life spent in Edinburgh, mostly Morningside and Bruntsfield, the place is not out of my thoughts for long, although my father’s death has lent a sadness to most of the memories of the place.”
