Brits have been told to expect travel chaos and power cuts as the Met Office has issued weather warnings for snow and ice impacting millions of people.
Today the national weather agency extended two of its yellow warnings for snow and ice until midday on Wednesday, covering a number of major towns and cities across the UK. A third warning is in place from 9am to midnight on Wednesday.
The warning for western and northern Scotland is in place from midday today until the same time tomorrow. It says as much as 10cm could come down in the impacted areas, with roads and railways “likely” to be impacted. “Icy patches on some untreated roads” will also pose a hazard, with the Met Office adding: “Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.”
