UK set for NEW 12-inch snow bomb with exact hour flurries return announced

A 350-mile snow bomb is set to RETURN to the UK this week with the exact time flurries start confirmed. The Met Office warns a new snowy system will hit everywhere from Scotland’s northern tip, including the Orkney Islands, to Hampshire on the south coast of England.

Up to 10cm of snow could smash into the country, WX Charts shows – with 3pm on January 10 earmarked as the worst-hit time. Snow depth maps show possible totals of 25cm to 30cm over central and northwestern areas, measuring a whopping 12 inches.

The BBC Weather forecast for January 10 to January 12 explains: “Showers will become more confined to northern Scotland and exposed coastal areas from Tuesday to Thursday as north-westerly breezes ease, with sheltered areas becoming mostly dry and sunnier. Some sharp frosts can be expected overnight.

“High pressure should start to build from Friday onwards, making much of the UK drier, although we need to watch out for a front sliding south-eastwards later on Thursday or Friday that might threaten some southern regions with a quick spell of rain or wet snow.

“Some rain could try to nudge in from the Atlantic at the weekend, but conditions should become milder. That is a bit uncertain, though, and if high pressure settles a bit farther north, it could continue to draw in colder air, so that will be something to monitor through the week.”

“Frequent snow showers will still continue to develop across parts away from the south of the UK and Ireland during this working week, and although anywhere could see a passing one, they will be more likely in coastal areas and parts of Wales in addition to some further heavier snow showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland/Ireland,” James Madden, from Exacta Weather has also moved to add.
