UK issued exact dates of next ‘major’ snow event with two places ‘worst-hit’

The UK has been handed the exact dates of its next “major” snow event – as sub-zero conditions RETURN. WX Charts, which uses Met Desk data, shows a secondary January snow blizzard hammering into the country before the arrival of February.

In the wake of Christmas, the country has shivered in record-breaking lows – and the snowfall shows no sign of letting up, with fresh flurries sweeping the nation around late-January, according to the early predictions and projections.

Maps generated by WX Charts, which uses Met Desk data, for January 25 suggest that a cold wave will hit several parts of Britain, with 12 cm of snow accumulating in areas around Dumfries and Galloway. The data comes from the Met Desk.

The BBC has issued its update from January 20 to January 26, predicting flurries could return as the country turns “unsettled”. The Beeb states: “As already indicated towards the end of the previous week, the large-scale high pressure pattern could shift away, as now more model solutions suggest low pressure could return to the UK, making for a potentially wetter and windier spell.

“Temperatures should remain above average.” The BBC forecast, which looks at what lies ahead week-by-week, goes on to add: “There is a risk of disruptive weather as a few intense low pressure systems pass through. However, it could get a little cooler across Scotland and Northern Ireland, in line with a more southerly storm track.”

The Beeb continues, adding in its monthly outlook: “Nevertheless, there are still other model solutions on the table assuming a further or renewed high pressure area centred near or across parts of the UK, which in turn would mean generally drier and somewhat calmer conditions.”

The BBC forecast is headlined ‘Perhaps unsettled and windy’ as we head through the first month of the year.
