The UK faces a 745-mile snow bomb across England with Ireland and the European Union also set to be battered. The snowfall could sweep France and northern Europe, smashing into England and Ireland with the “worst yet to come”.
Snow will descend across the coastline and into mainland France on Friday morning, January 10. It will bring 3cm each hour in Wales, London and the Paris area, according to WX Charts maps and charts, which are projected using Met Desk data.
By 9am on Friday, most of Scotland, Ireland and northern regions will already be covered in snow, with depths of up to 21cm in the Highlands and between 5cm and 11cm around Manchester, Lancashire, Newcastle, Cumbria, Northumberland and Leeds in Yorkshire.

By Friday evening, most of the UK is painted purple in WXCharts’ weather maps, with parts of the Midlands and Wales worst-hit. The Met Office forecast from January 11 to January 20 explained: “High pressure is likely close to if not over the UK throughout this period, with generally settled conditions prevailing.”
The outlook from the forecasting agency went on to detail what lies ahead, explaining: “Cloud amounts will be variable and occasionally large, but with a chance of some fog developing under clearer spells, which would be slow to clear.
“That said, frontal systems may affect parts of the UK at times, these more likely towards the northwest of the UK, bringing some rain and windier conditions. Any systems are likely to be fairly weak though as they run into the high pressure.”
The outlook went on, adding: “Temperatures are likely to be generally around or a little above average, although southern and eastern parts may start rather cold, and it will be cold if or where fog lingers. Colder spells are also possible in the far north at times.”
