Tyne and Wear Metro train services to end early due to freezing temperatures

Tyne and Wear Metro services will end earlier due to the current freezing temperatures in the North East.

Trains are set to end earlier on Friday night and start later on Saturday morning, as a result of the weather.

Regarding Friday night’s train times, the Tyne and Wear Metro account on X posted the following: “Due to the freezing temperatures tonight, we are having to end some trains earlier than usual. Please see below for a summary of our last train services.

“For further assistance, please use a station help point or contact Metro via X @My_metro. Please stay safe and warm.”

The last trains for Friday January 10 are:

  • Monument towards Pelaw: 11.31pm
  • Monument towards Benton: 11.55pm
  • Monument towards Regent Centre: 12.04am
  • Monument towards South Gosforth 12.04am
  • South Hylton towards South Gosforth via Monument: 11.17pm
  • South Shields towards Benton via Monument: 11.26pm

On the disruption to the service on Saturday morning, the Tyne and Wear Metro account on X said: “There have been some amendments to the first train times tomorrow morning, Saturday 11 January. Please see below for revised train times.”

The first trains for Saturday January 11 are:

  • Monument towards South Hylton: 5.21am
  • Regent Centre towards South Hylton: 5.35am
  • Monument towards South Shields: 5.39am
  • South Gosforth towards South Shields: 5.45am
  • Benton towards South Shields: 5.54am
  • Central towards St. James: 5.55am
  • Pelaw towards St. James: 5.58am
  • Pelaw towards Airport: 6.11am
