Police who launched a murder investigation after a 53-year-old man was found dead in the Cottingham area on Boxing Day say they are pursuing extensive lines of enquiry.
Two men arrested in connection with the case have since been released under investigation. Humberside Police have renewed an appeal for information.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Officers are continuing to explore extensive lines of enquiry as part of the investigation following the death of a man on Ormesby Walk, Cottingham on Thursday (December 26). The two men who were arrested on the suspicion of murder have since been released under investigation whilst enquiries remain ongoing.
“We continue to appeal for information. If you have any information that may assist officers, please contact our non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number 24*182414.
“Alternatively, you can report information anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Police were called by paramedics to an address in Ormesby Walk at around 9am on Boxing Day. Officers found a 53-year-old man had died at the property and a scene guard was put in place.
Two men, aged 30 and 50, were later arrested on suspicion of murder and questioned before being released. Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Amy Keane-Christie, from the force’s Major Crime Team, sought to reassure the local community that they believed it to be an incident between individuals known to each other, with no wider risk to the public.
