Two men who travelled from Coventry to sell a VW Golf sustained serious injuries after being attacked. Police said the victims had taken a 125-mile journey to Merseyside.
Cops said the two men had travelled from Coventry to Wirral to sell a VW Golf on Saturday, December 7. While in Wirral, they were both subjected to an ‘unprovoked’ attack by a group of men, suffering slash wounds to the back and leg.
While the two men were being treated for their injuries, the VW Golf was stolen, Merseyside Police said. Officers investigating the incident spotted the car being driven in Birkenhead on Thursday, December 10.

Cops chased the VW Golf before it was abandoned on Holt Hill. Officers pursued the occupants, and they were quickly detained.
Police arrested an 18-year-old man from Bromborough on suspicion of wounding with intent, theft of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence or insurance, failing to stop, and dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries, Merseyside Police said.
A 22-year-old man from Leasowe was also arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent, theft of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, failing to stop, and driving uninsured. He has since been bailed.
