Tributes have been paid to a devoted Leeds United fan who ‘never gave up’ when faced with an incurable cancer diagnosis.
Friends and family of Adam Thomas – known to many of his social media followers as WALMOT – have been left devastated at his death on December 22 just months after his liver cancer diagnosis.
Dad of three Adam was diagnosed with cancer in June and was ‘incredibly determined’ as he faced the disease, his family said. “He never gave up even in the darkest times – we are so incredibly proud of him,” said his wife Liz.
Adam and Liz had married in November. Adam died aged 36 just before Christmas.

Liz said: “Life without Adam moving forward is unimaginable but we are determined to carry on with his legacy and match the fighting attitude he had through this whole journey by making lasting memories.
“Adam always spoke so highly of Leeds supporters and he would always read every single message that was sent his way.
“He would always say ‘Leeds fans are bloody nuts’ and let out a laugh as he said it. You all really did help carry him through this horrible time and as a family we are deeply thankful.”
More than £11,000 has been raised through a Go Fund Me appeal to help Adam’s family and to pay for funeral expenses. The online fund can be found here.
Almost 400 people have made donations to the fund.
