Mark Wright’s grandad Eddie has sadly died just weeks after he shared the exciting news he’s becoming a dad. The former TOWIE star’s beloved grandfather died on Monday “surrounded by his loved ones”, reports The Mirror.
He had been struggling with health issues since a fall in the summer, which resulted in him being hospitalised. The devastating news comes just a week after Mark shared a pregnancy announcement with wife Michelle Keegan.
They will be welcoming their first child this year, as well as celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary. Sharing the news of Eddie’s passing at the age of 92, a statement shared with Mail Online read: “Mark’s grandad passed away last night. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.”

In June, Mark’s dad Mark Snr. shared that Eddie had been hospitalised as they marked Father’s Day. He posted a photo of Eddie sat in a vehicle and wrote: “Happy Father’s Day to the best – unfortunately in hospital at the moment after a fall a couple of days ago, but dad I’m on my way up to see you now.”
Mark Snr. concluded with a message for Eddie, telling him: “Keep strong.” Mark Snr.’s children, including Jess Wright shared messages as alongside a heart emoji, she reacted: “The best there is.”
Younger sibling Natalya Wright instead shared a heart emoji. Sadie Stuart Wright, the wife of Mark Jr.’s cousin Elliott Wright, posted emojis depicting praying hands and a heart. And although Mark Jr. didn’t appear to have commented, he liked the post shared by his father.
Mark has previously paid tribute to his grandfather. He once spoke about his whilst on This Morning in 2019, and said: “He’s done so much for our family, my granddad, all our lives. Like he’s our king. To us, he’s the best granddad you could ever have.”
