If you’re thinking of dining out this Valentine’s Day, Surrey has some fabulous places for a special night out. But you’ll want to get in quick, because tables will be going fast.
During 2024 we had the pleasure of featuring some of Surrey’s most loved bistros, brasseries and pubs, and now have an excellent list of places we can recommend our readers to visit for Valentine’s Day 2025.
One restaurant on the list in Guildford consistently crops up as one of Surrey’s most “romantic” places to dine. Surrey isn’t short of pretty places to visit, with cobbled streets in Farnham and secluded villages with pretty scenery and walking routes.
There are also plenty of great options for each budget, so you can still enjoy a delicious dinner with friends and loved ones without breaking the bank. We also have some very excellent suggestions for those looking to splash the cash on a unique dining experience for an exceptional occasion.

‘Intrinsically romantic’
Tucked away from the main high street in Guildford, this blink and you’ll miss it destination has been named a “gem of a restaurant” by customers, who say this is an “intrinsically romantic” spot to dine. Names on TheFork’s top community choice chart, you really can’t go wrong with Positano on Tunsgate Street in Guildford.
You can find pasta, pizza, risotto, salad, meat and fish, all locally sourced with stand out dishes including Linguini allo Scoglio, pasta cooked in white wine and cherry tomato sauce, with clams, mussels, king prawns, baby squid and fresh fish for £17.95. You can also find the Tirolese, £14.25, a pizza with Parma ham, mozzarella cheese, gorgonzola blue cheese and basil.

‘Underground speakeasy with hot stone steak’
Tried and tested by SurreyLive, this is a fabulous spot for a date night or alternatively a night out with friends. It’s a fun venue with a speakeasy vibe, live music and good food.
At the Ram Jam stage in Kingston, you can enjoy some delicious cocktails while being serenaded by a live band. Located in The Grey Horse Smok’d pub, the venue specialises in barbeque with juicy monster burgers, hot stone steaks served on a sizzling slab you cook yourself for £32 and the Jacobs ladder beef rib with grilled vegetables for £24.

‘Award winning chef’
If you’re an avid SurreyLive reader you will have seen this particular restaurant mentioned multiple times. This venue has won award after award, and is called “simply the best restaurant” in the area. 3 Rooms in Ottershaw has been branded “sensational” for it’s food and ambience, with an award winning chef.
Tushar Rahman won Best Chef of the Year at the 8th Euro Asia Curry Awards 2024. The restaurant has also been refurbished recently, offering customers a comfortable dining experience.
One customer wrote via Google: “This is simply the best Indian restaurant in the area! The staff are so friendly and the restaurant always buzzing on a weekend. The food is incredible, especially the signature dishes.
“We always previously ordered standard takeaway dishes but now we love exploring different things on the menu as we know they’ll always be interesting and tasty. Highly recommend the Lamb dishes, incredibly tender! Thanks for some amazing meals and we can’t wait to return. Samantha.”

‘Riverside restaurant you can reach by boat’
Over the Surrey border you can find Scott’s in Richmond, a glamorous restaurant near the River Thames you can reach via boat. Thames River Boats operate cruises from Westminster Pier, Kew Pier, Richmond Landing Stage (right outside the restaurant) and Hampton Court Landing Stage with a fleet of traditional River Thames passenger boats, perfect for a little day trip.
The restaurant is described as “strikingly stylish” with luxurious shellfish dishes, such as fresh oysters (£30 for six) caviar and seared seabass (£28). If you’re looking to impress this Valentines Day, Scott’s is the place to be.
