Major changes are coming to bus services across Leicester this week as First Bus announces updates to several routes. The changes, which come into effect on Sunday, will affect seven services, including routes to Rushey Mead, Goodwood, and Thurmaston.
First Bus Leicester said the changes were being made to “better reflect current traffic levels” and journey times. Routes 4, 15, 17, 21, 25/26, 54 and 74 will all see amendments to their existing timetables from Sunday (January 5).
Service 17 to Highfields will now depart from a new location at Haymarket Bus Station. The service will continue to serve existing stops on Humberstone Gate and Charles Street.

The 25/26 service to Mowmacre Hill will see timing alterations throughout the week, although Sunday services remain unchanged. Similar changes will be made to routes 4, 15 and 21 which serve Rushey Mead, Goodwood and Thurmaston respectively.
A spokesperson for First Bus Leicester said: “We regularly review our services and sometimes we need to make changes to better reflect current traffic levels, journey times and provide timetables that are better suited to customer needs.”
Weekend travellers using the service 54 to Beaumont Centre and service 74 to Anstey will also need to check new timings. The bus company said these routes would only see changes to their Saturday services.
First Bus Leicester said passengers could view all new timetables on its website.
