One of the most popular pubs in Douglas has told customers “it’s time to say goodbye” after two decades of “unforgettable memories.”
After 20 years pulling pints in the Cork city suburb, the East Village is throwing its final “farewell party” this weekend as it invites everyone in to celebrate with the team.
In a touching social media post, the East Village owners thanked their regulars and staff who they said have been wonderful over the years with “many laughs and unforgettable memories” to look back on.
They wrote: “All of us here at East Village would like to thank all of our wonderful customers and staff, friends and family, for joining us over the years.
“There’s been many laughs and unforgettable memories the last 20 years but we are sad to announce it’s time to say goodbye. We hope you can join us this Saturday for our farewell party and celebrate the East Village with us.”
The East Village’s current owners are a well-known trio of publicans, Seán McCarthy, Jon Cronin and Derry O’Regan. Their portfolio of Cork bars includes Tequila Jacks and Paddy the Farmers. Their most high-profile pub was Soho in the city centre, which was reopened as Seventy-Seven under new ownership in 2023.
