A new fitness trend that has been dominating the TikTok For You Page is returning to the UK and it’s just a short drive from Liverpool. Hyrox is seen by many as a “badge of honour” for athletes in this day and age.

The timed workout challenge combines running with eight functional workout stations. In total, you will run five miles inside, with each mile being broken up with rowing, SkiErg, burpee broad jumps, and wall balls.

The competition can be done in pairs, mixed-gendered, same-sex, or solo. Hyrox occurs worldwide, from Dublin and Paris to London and Stockholm—the closest to Merseyside is Manchester with the next official dates taking place at the end of this month between Friday, January 24 and Sunday, January 26.

Hyrox’s website said: “Not only are we back with our Open, Doubles & Pro divisions, but for the first time ever, we’re introducing the Myprotein Friday Night Relays — a night dedicated entirely to relay teams, running from 19:00 to 21:00.

“Known for its vibrant fitness community, Manchester will once again host an unforgettable weekend packed with competition, camaraderie, and personal achievement. With both individual and team divisions on offer, it’s the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself and be part of something extraordinary.”

Hyrox first launched in Germany in 2017 and has quickly established itself as one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, with races in more than 11 countries and over 30 cities.

It is loved by influencers particularly Molly-Mae’s sister Zoe Hague and her husband Danny Rae. Each race is hosted indoors in expansive exhibition halls, helping to create an “immersive and electrifying race” where spectators can support you from the very beginning to the very end.

This race format remains consistent across the globe, enabling global leaderboards and a cumulative World Championships at the end of each race season. Accommodating both professional athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts looking to take their training to the next level, Hyrox is said to be “the sport for everybody”.

Hyrox in Liverpool

Speke’s Origin Gym on Goodlass Road offers Hyrox simulation days. It allows athletes to see how far their training has come as it includes all the categories, and a timing breakdown of splits.

PureGym at the Lewis’s Building on Ranelagh Street also offers beginner to advanced classes. Accredited coaches teach these, and are specifically designed to help improve technique, strength, and endurance across the eight exercises in a Hyrox competition.
