Three people taken to hospital after Rutherglen ‘disturbance’ on New Year’s Day

Three people have been taken to hospital following a “disturbance” in Rutherglen on New Year’s Day.

Emergency services raced to the scene on Pinkerton Avenue at around 4.40am on January 1. The nature of the incident has not been confirmed.

A 34-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were both taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. A 40-year-old man was taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment.

Two other people, a man and a woman aged 38, were treated on the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who has any information following the incident to come forward.

Detective Constable Graeme Easton said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and a police presence remains in the area.

“I am appealing for anyone who has any information which could assist us to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, who was in the area and may have dash-cam footage or who may have private CCTV which could help to contact us.”
