The best burger in the UK could be down a Guildford alleyway. The Boring Burger may be slightly hidden on the high-street but has impressed diners and critics alike.
The restaurant refers to itself as a fine dining burger concept with a street food vibe. With a short but sweet menu, there is no where to hide and everything is made, fresh and handmade.
It has been nominated as one of 16 finalists in the National Burger Awards which returns for its 11th year in February. Only the finest burgers are up for consideration, and The boring burger is the only Surrey outlet featured on the list.
Jaime, from The boring burger told SurreyLive: “The Boring Burger has been trying to get into this competition for around three years. We were a reserve finalist in the national burger awards 2023 and never got the chance to compete, and also were nominated for Uber restaurant of the year 2024 but did not manage to get enough votes to get to finals. So being in this competition means a lot and I can’t wait to get a chance to compete. I believe we have a tasty, amazing burger.”

The competition will see chefs face off in a live cooking showdown in a bid to claim the National Burger of the Year crown. On top of the signature round, which will see the chefs cook up the very same burger that earned them their spot at the final, finalists will take part in a technical challenge where they must create the ultimate burger from a selection of sponsor ingredients.
The Boring Burger has made the final for the quality of its namesake ‘The boring burger’. Despite the name this dish involves a 110gm patty, dirty sauce, dill pickle, iceberg, bacon and American cheese all for £11.

Winners will be chosen by a hand-picked panel of expert industry judges. Genna Ash-Brown, editor of Dine Out magazine, which organises and runs the awards said: “ What’s not to love about a day spent celebrating the very best of British burgers?
“Hot on the heels of last year’s 10th anniversary Champion of Champions event, we’re back and on a mission to find the purveyor of the UK’s ultimate burger.
“This line-up could well be the most compelling yet, and we can’t wait for our judges to be floored by the flavourful innovation that’s sure to be demonstrated by these talented chefs.”
If you want to try it out for yourself The Boring Burger is on Chapel Street, the same side alley as Cote and Giggling Squid. They can also be found on Deliveroo.
Jaime will need to wait until February 11 for the winner to be announced.
