If you hosted Christmas dinner this year, you may be unwilling to pick up a pan or switch on an oven until 2025. Thankfully, you are spoiled for takeaway choice in Cambridgeshire, as the list of semi-finalists in the British Kebab Awards 2025 attests.
Five Cambridgeshire businesses feature, comprising three in the running for ‘kebab van of the year’; one in the running for ‘best takeaway (regional)’; and one hopeful for ‘best value restaurant’. The 2025 celebration will be the thirteenth British Kebab Awards.
Three out of the 20 businesses that have reached the semi-finals for ‘kebab van of the year’ are from Cambridgeshire. One of these is Burwell Kebab Van at 21 The Causeway, Burwell, which describes a commitment to “serving scrumptious food that will delight your taste buds and keep your tummies content” on its website.

The second in this category is Diamond Kebab at 291 Arbury Road, Cambridge. This business is no stranger to accolades: last year, it was named kebab van of the year in the Turkish Restaurant Awards.
The third in the category is Gourmet Kebab on 105 Cambridge Rd, Caxton. This spot has an impressive 4.8/5 from 880 Google reviews, with one happy customer describing “amazing” food and “generous” portions.
The regional ‘best takeaway’ category includes companies from across different areas of the UK. Listed among the 27 semi-finalists is Turkish Grill on 80 Storrington Way, Peterborough.
One Google reviewer of this spot said: “Could not fault it. Amazing taste and the guys working in there are so accommodating.” The final category that Cambridgeshire makes an appearance in is ‘best value restaurant’.
Mediterranean BBQ at 181 East Road in Cambridge was one of 32 in this group. The business first opened its doors in 2013, and gained a ‘highly recommended’ accolade in the British Kebab Awards in 2018. The décor inside the restaurant is done by Turkish artists living in and around Cambridge.
The 2025 awards will be sponsored by Just Eat. Previous judges in the competition have included Metin Pekin, founding director of Paragon Quality Foods; Nigel Streeter, managing director of Ace4Kebabs; alongside figures including journalists, broadcasters and MPs.
