A steam train will still be flying through Surrey’s countryside, and you can be a passenger on it. In May a vintage locomotive will be making its way through multiple Surrey towns as part of an adventure across England.
The journey begins at Horsham railway station, before the iconic 70000 Britannia sets off towards Dorking, Leatherhead and Epsom. Passengers will travel in restored vintage carriages with period details reminiscent of a bygone era.
The train will follow the Mole Valley towards London before joining the West Coast Main Line, which takes the train through the suburbs and out into Warwickshire and Staffordshire. Passengers will be treated to beautiful countryside views of intertwined rivers, canals, and fields.
The ultimate destination is the historic city of Chester where passengers will get the chance to disembark and explore, before being whisked back home. The city’s Tudor-and-Victorian heart is famous as one of Britain’s prettiest town centres and complete with timber framed homes, ancient towers and the oldest racecourse.
There are two classes of travel each with their own charm. First Class guests will be welcomed onboard with a glass of Bucks Fizz, followed by a small selection of snack items to be enjoyed as well as tea and coffee will be served. Guests are welcome to bring their own picnics on-board or add an Afternoon Tea to their experience (£26pp supplement).
