The 23 Lancashire figures recognised in the New Year Honours List 2025

As the New Year approaches, the King has announced a list of honours to bestow upon celebrities and notable figures in a wide variety of industries – including almost two dozen people from Lancashire.

The New Year Honours List for 2025 recognises the achievements and services of extraordinary people across the country. Household names such as Stephen Fry, Gareth Southgate and Sadiq Khan have been knighted in this year’s list, thanks to their hard work in their respective fields.

In Lancashire, a number of notable figures have been honoured, including footballer manager David Moyes who has been handed an OBE for his services to Association Football. Here’s a look at the full list of honourees from Lancashire:
