Teen riding electric bike in ‘serious’ condition after Barrhead incident as road closed

An investigation has been launched after a teenager was found seriously injured in Barrhead on New Years day.

The incident happened at around 10.55pm on Wednesday, January 1. Officers received reports of a 15-year-old boy riding an electric bike found seriously injured on Aurs Drive, Barrhead.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the boy was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as serious.

Aurs Drive is closed between the junctions of Arthurlie Street and Kelvin Drive with Police Scotland urging drivers to avoid the area.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers are appealing for information.

Detective Inspector Ross Jamieson said: “Officers remain at the scene while we work to establish exactly what has happened.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have information which could assist us to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage or private CCTV to contact us.”
