Swale shoplifter targeted Morrisons more than 10 times in two weeks

A shoplifter targeted a Morrisons store in Milton Regis more than 10 times in two weeks. Shelley Earnshaw was already banned from the shop when she began her spree.

The 31 year old from Sittingbourne attended the store between Sunday, December 29, 2024 and Saturday, January 11, 2025, stealing meat, cheese, alcohol, household and hygiene products worth more than £850. A Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) issued in September 2024 forbade Earnshaw from entering the premises for a period of three years.

Due to that still being in place, the recent offences put Earnshaw in breach of the court order. Earnshaw was arrested by Kent Police officers on Saturday, January 11 and faced 22 charges related to theft and breaches of her CBO.

She pleaded guilty to all charges before magistrates on Monday, January 13 and was immediately sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment.

Chief Inspector Vanessa Foster said: “Earnshaw showed complete contempt for the court order to which she is subject, which is in place to protect businesses and the local community. I am pleased that a custodial sentence has been imposed and hope that this sends out a clear message: that we will not tolerate shoplifting, which is never a victimless crime, and will always strive to bring offenders to justice.”
