Surrey snow weather warning for snow as Met Office forecasts multiple towns to be impacted

Multiple areas of Surrey could be seeing more snowfall later this week as the Met Office has issued forecasts for the area and also a weather warning covering the county.

The first few weeks of 2025 will seemingly be remembered for their snowfall as Surrey has been forecasted to receive another spell of snow later this week.

The Met Office has put in place a yellow weather warning for snow for Wednesday (January 8) across the the entirety of southern England, including Surrey.

Warnings have been issued across the south of England for snow and ice, and the public has been told to prepare for travels delays on road, delays or cancellations to rail and air travel, alongside a potential for power cuts. The Met Office yellow warning for snow will be in place for Surrey from 9am on Wednesday until the end of the day.

Additionally, residents are being told to ‘act now’ to ensure their safety as there are 19 flood warnings across Surrey following a weekend of heavy rain.

Across Surrey, temperatures are expected to reach highs of 3C and lows of -4C for Wednesday January 8.

Snowfall is expected to be most likely from 12pm until 9pm, depending on the temperature; this could also likely be rain for some areas in Surrey such as Guildford, Woking and Staines. On the contrary, some parts of Surrey can expected spells of heavy snowfall, such as in Haslemere.

The Met Office statement read: “Whilst not all areas may be affected, outbreaks of snow may push in from the southwest during Wednesday, potentially giving some significant accumulations in places.”

“2-5 cm of snow could accumulate fairly widely, and as much as 10 cm over higher ground, especially over east or northeast-facing slopes. Rain or sleet is more likely near coasts.”

The statement went onto warn people to be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly, and so it is advised to keep updated with the weather forecast in your area.
