Surrey man pleads guilty to thefts of items worth thousands stolen

Surrey Police released a statement this morning (Thursday January 2) announcing that a 40-year-old man has been sentenced to four months in prison after pleading guilty to eight different thefts in Surrey between November and December 2024. The police statement read: “Ryan Lloyd, DOB 13/08/1984, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Staines Magistrates Court on Monday 30 December.”

According to Surrey Police, Lloyd was arrested in the evening of Friday December 27 after officers were called to a BP petrol station in Molesey with reports from staff that the 40-year-old was concealing items in his jacket. While in custody, David Lloyd went on to admit to seven other shoplifting offences between the months of November and December. The total cost of the items the 40-year-old stole during this time is reportedly over £2300.

Following his admission of guilt, Lloyd was remanded in custody until he appeared in Staines Magistrates Court on Monday, December 30. As part of this statement Surrey Police warned: “We take shoplifting seriously in Surrey and if you are concerned that someone is stealing from your business, please report it to us so that we can build the bigger picture of regular offenders and hotspot locations.”
