Plymouth Argyle are playing their first away game of 2025 against Stoke City, under their new manager Mark Robins, at the bet365 Stadium this lunchtime.
The Pilgrims began the post-Wayne Rooney era at the club with a 2-2 draw against Bristol City at Home Park on New Year’s Day, when they twice came from behind before picking up a point.
Now they are hoping to end a run of five successive away defeats, and the last four without scoring a goal in any of them, against 19th-placed Stoke.

When these two teams met at Home Park at the end of August, Rooney was the head coach of Rooney while former Argyle manager Steven Schumacher was in charge of Stoke.
However, four months later, Rooney has left the Pilgrims, who currently have Kevin Nancekivell and Joe Edwards in temporary charge, while Schumacher was dismissed by Stoke in September and his replacement, Narcis Pelach, then lost his job on December 27, with Robins appointed on New Year’s Day.
