Stoke-on-Trent cold snap persists but milder temperatures on horizon

Stoke-on-Trent has been hit by freezing weather conditions this week – and the cold temperatures are set to persist today (January 11). However, comparatively milder temperatures should start to kick in from tomorrow.

The forecast for Stoke-on-Trent is just 1C for most of the day, according to the Met Office. Temperatures will drop to 0C from around 9pm but are not expected to fall below freezing for the first time in several days.

On Sunday, highs of 4C are predicted with temperatures possibly falling to as low as 1C overnight. By Monday, the Met Office expects temperatures to be no lower than 5C – and that remains the case for the remainder of the week.

In terms of highs as the week progresses, the city is looking at welcome temperatures of 10-11C. Although temperatures are settling over the course of next week, the country could soon be facing strong winds.

The Met Office forecast up to January 24 states: “Frontal systems will spread from the northwest of the UK, bringing some rain and windier conditions here. These spreading further south at times with windier conditions and frontal bands of rain making more progress across the whole of the UK from next week with the potential for deeper lows with stronger winds to approach the UK.

“Temperatures are likely to be generally a little above average, falling to around average into next week, though the south or east may see the odd rather cold start under clear skies and lighter winds.”
