A person was hit by a train between Ashford and Canterbury today (Thursday). Services between Ashford International and Canterbury West were stopped.
According to Southeastern, power to the lines was switched off so emergency services could get safely to the incident. The incident was at Wye near Ashford.
A Southeastern spokesperson said on X, formerly Twitter: “Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Ashford and Canterbury West. The electricity supply has been switched off to allow a safe access to the railway for the emergency services.”
They added: “Trains which run via Canterbury West are likely to be cancelled or diverted to run via Dover Priory. You can use your ticket at no extra cost on Stagecoach buses between Ashford, Canterbury and Ramsgate. You can also use our services which run via Canterbury East.”
