Sneak peek at Cork’s newest Italian restaurant opening on Washington Street

This weekend, a new Italian restaurant will be opening its doors in Cork city centre.

Don Gregorio’s will open to the public on Saturday, January 18, offering a wide range of authentic pasta dishes.

The new restaurant is replacing Amigo’s, a Turkish and Mexican restaurant that used to occupy the same unit on Washington Street.

Over the last few months, the owners have carried out a series of extensive renovations, giving the interior a whole new look to accompany the switch to Italian cuisine.

CorkBeo spoke with Rory O’Connor, one of the men behind the new venture. He told us that Don Gregorio’s will focus primarily on fresh pasta dishes, allowing them to offer main courses at a lower price point than many competitors.

Rory said Don Gregorio’s aims to operate as a hybrid café and restaurant, allowing customers to grab a quick to-go dish while also having the option of a more formal sit-down meal.

The owners have even brought over a new head chef from Italy to help ensure their pasta dishes are as authentic as possible.

After opening night on Saturday, Don Gregorio’s will be open seven days a week. You can keep up with all the latest updates on their social media here.
