Serious assault on Christmas Eve in Gloucester treated as attempted murder

Police have launched an urgent search for a man thought to have information about a serious assault in Gloucester on Christmas Eve that officers are treating as attempted murder. Gloucestershire Police are appealing for information to locate Alexander Flanagan, from the Tewkesbury area, as they believe he can help them with their inquiries into the violent incident.

Officers are investigating after being called to a report of a man who had been attacked at a property on Cromwell Street in the early hours of Tuesday, December 24. Emergency services attended the address at around 2.30am.

A man was found seriously injured at the property. He was taken to hospital for treatment before being discharged. It is believed those involved in the incident are known to each other.

A spokesperson for the force confirmed officers now want to speak to 32-year-old Alexander Flanagan in connection with the incident.

Flanagan, who is from the Tewkesbury area, is described as being white, 6ft in height, and of a medium build. He has short greying brown hair.

The force said: “Although there is no information to suggest he is a direct threat to others, police are warning members of the public to not approach him and to call immediately instead.

“If Flanagan can be seen at the time of calling dial 999. Anyone with information on possible sightings is asked to call police on 101 and quote incident 34 of 24 December 2024.”
