Officers have revisited the area where two missing sisters, who vanished in Aberdeen, were last seen to “gain further understanding of their movements”.
On Tuesday, January 7, Eliza and Henrietta Huszti were last seen on CCTV on the city’s Market Street at Victoria Bridge at about 2.12am. The two women, who are part of a set of triplets, are originally from Hungary and are understood to have moved to Scotland seven years ago.
The 32-year-old pair crossed the bridge and turned right onto a footpath next to the River Dee, heading in the direction of Aberdeen Boat Club. The focus of the search has remained on the River Dee, close to the Queen Elizabeth Bridge, however, police say there is no evidence of the missing women leaving the immediate area.
The police helicopter, dog branch and the marine unit were among the specialist resources involved in the extensive searches carried out since.

Officers revisited the area in the early hours of Tuesday, January 14 and spoke to pedestrians and motorists to try and gain further understanding of the sisters’ movements one week ago. The extensive search will resume today and focus on the River Dee. Further searches involving specialist units will continue in the coming days.
Superintendent David Howieson said: “We remain extremely concerned for Eliza and Henrietta as our searches enter a second week. Considerable efforts are being made to search the river and the surrounding area. We have spoken to a number of people in the course of our enquiries, including overnight, a week on from when they were last seen.
“We continue to examine all the available CCTV footage to try and establish the sisters’ movements in the early hours of Tuesday, January 7. We remain in regular contact with Eliza and Henrietta’s family in Hungary and continue to provide them with support.
“We know our concern is shared by people across Aberdeen and the North East. I would urge anyone who may have information, which has not yet been passed to police, to get in touch.”
On Monday, the family of the missing sisters released a statement appealing to anyone with any information that could help in the search to come forward. It read: “This has been a very worrying and upsetting time for our family. We are really worried about Eliza and Henrietta and all we want is for them to be found.
“If you think you might have any information which could help the police with finding Eliza and Henrietta then please pass this on as quickly as you can. We appreciate all the support our family has been given over the past few days and we would like our privacy to be respected at this time.”

This came after the family asked the public not to spread any “unfounded rumours”. The statement, translated by the BBC, read: “Therefore, we kindly ask everyone for respect. Please do not spread any unfounded rumours. We can only say what’s already been in the news. The family is not in a position to give everyone separate information. Thank you all for being with us in these difficult times.”
On Friday, the sisters’ brother, Jozsef, told BBC News that their mum spoke to them on the previous Saturday, having “a 40-minute conversation and nothing appeared out of the ordinary”. The pair’s sister, Edit Huszti, who is the other triplet, also said she spoke to them on New Year’s Eve via video call where she said they appeared “happy and cheerful”, according to the BBC. Their disappearance was described as out of character for the sisters who “did not go out much”.
On Friday, two police boats were on the water while a land search was carried out along the banks of the River Dee, with police divers also being sighted in the water. Searches on the coast towards the Port of Aberdeen’s South Harbour, and towards Duthie Park, are also being carried out.
As well as speaking to local businesses, CCTV footage from the area where Eliza and Henrietta were last seen is also being examined, alongside doing door-to-door enquiries.
The force has said they have the support of police in their home country, who are liaising with the wider family. They are both described as white and of slim build with long, brown hair.
Police have urged anyone with any information to contact them. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 0735 of Tuesday, January 7 2025.
