Ross County are investigating racial abuse of their goalkeeper Jordan Amissah in the wake of Thursday’s 2-1 win away to Aberdeen.
The 23-year-old German, who is of Ghanaian descent, shared a screenshot on his Instagram story of monkey emojis and racial slurs he had received from an anonymous account and accompanied it with the caption: “Still some people out there with no brain and too much time on their hands.”
County released a brief statement on Friday afternoon offering their support to Amissah.
“Ross County FC is aware of racial abuse received by Jordan Amissah via Instagram following yesterday’s match,” it read. “The club stand fully in support of Jordan and will be contacting the relevant authorities to assist with our investigation.”
County put out a further update later in the day which read: “For clarity, Ross County FC do not know the origin of the Instagram messages and there is nothing to suggest the comments were made by an Aberdeen supporter. Enquiries will continue.”

Amissah joined County last month on a short-term contract after regular number one Ross Laidlaw was sidelined by injury.
The former Sheffield United goalkeeper has started the Staggies’ last three games, a run in which Don Cowie’s side have taken seven points from a possible nine to keep themselves out of the bottom two of the William Hill Premiership.
