Restaurant at popular Swansea shopping park shuts suddenly

A restaurant which operated in a thriving retail park has closed suddenly. India India, which specialised in buffet-style dining, was popular with customers who attended its venue at Parc Tawe Retail Park.

Now a notice has appeared in its window stating that, as of January 4, it has now closed for business, with the unit and its contents the legal possession of Centurion, which owns the retail park.

Since taking over, Centurion has done an impressive job of transforming Parc Tawe’s fortunes. As we reported in a special feature, the retail park went from being half empty, to being almost completely occupied under its leadership, welcoming exciting new arrivals like Ninja Warrior UK, Flashpoint, Sports Direct and Aldi. And there’s more developments to come, with a national food chain set to operate a new drive-thru at Parc Tawe, as we reported here. Those behind the retail park’s transformation are also breathing new life into The Quadrant Shopping Centre, which you can read more about by clicking here.

Estates manager at Centurion, Adam Gibbons, explained how operators had already come forward with interest to move into the now vacant India India unit.

He said: “We can confirm that India India has now closed its doors at Parc Tawe. While the restaurant brought a vibrant food offering to the retail park, its closure presents an exciting opportunity for a new food and beverage operator.

“Located in a thriving part of Swansea city centre, Parc Tawe is surrounded by popular destination leisure venues, making it an ideal spot for businesses looking to tap into a dynamic and active customer base. During the Christmas period, we experienced a fantastic uplift in footfall with over 125,000 vehicles parking up and making the most of our retail, food and leisure offer.

“We have already received queries from potential operators for the IndiaIndia unit and look forward to welcoming a new name to the park, to contribute to the continued growth and appeal of our key location.” Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news.
